Thought of the week

Each week in school, we have a different "thought of the week". This will be the basis of our assemblies and a topic of discussion in the classrooms.

“The freedom of thought and expression is one of the most scared rights in this country.”

Our thought of the week is about freedom. In the U.K. the Human rights act of 1998 guarantees the freedom of expression. This includes freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority. But Should there be some limits on freedom of speech? Should freedom of speech be limited if it is used to spread hatred, incite violence and ridicule others’ beliefs?
