You may be aware from media coverage that a teacher’s union, the National Education Union (NEU) has declared strike action, which will take place on: Wednesday 1st February; Tuesday 28th February; Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the Union and the Government over teachers’ pay and not because of any issues at our school. Should the strikes go ahead as planned on the other days mentioned above, we will write again in good time to ensure you have the information you need.

Children in the following classes should not attend school on Wednesday 1st February:

Nursery – Morning Nursery

Reception – Mars, Saturn and Earth

Year 1 – Neptune

Year 2 – Sharman and Hawking

Year 3 – Bronte

Year 4 – Newton, Armstrong and Adams

Year 5 – Ennis and Turing.

All other classes are open as usual and your child should still attend school.

For those children whose classes are closed on Wednesday 1st February, they can access activities and learning online in the year group pages on our school website (learn by heart, BBC bitesize, etc.) and the homework mats, spelling and reading homework on our SeeSaw app. Children whose classes are closed the day of the strike (above) and who are eligible for free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch to take home for the following day, at the end of the school day on Tuesday January 31st. Morning club and after school activities will be provided as usual for children whose classes are open.
